The Stamps Foundation is a scholarship that was established by Dr. Dana Stamps on behalf of her father, the late Johnny Stamps Sr., who passed in 2015 during Dana’s Doctoral program. Johnny Stamps Sr. was instrumental throughout Dana’s childhood and in Dana’s education. He also held in high esteem all his children, grandchildren other relatives and friends who wanted to pursue further education by offering support, words of wisdom and a historical perspective on accomplishments made by minorities. He always stated that education and hard work outlines the path to success.
Johnny’s tenacious attitude, determination, loyalty, commitment and leadership skills relating to his work ethics also gained the respect of his many colleagues and family. He believed that actions spoke louder than words and if you remained on a steady path, you will succeed.
Often scholarships are given based on grades and high GPA’s. The Stamps foundation wants to acknowledge students who exhibit the same characteristics as Mr. Johnny Stamps Sr. and not solely based on GPAs. To offer those students who have determination and great work ethics with opportunities to help further their education. These scholarships will be presented annually to students who apply and qualify.
